The Cardioid Story

Welcome to Cardioid Cards — a curated collection of greeting cards and paper goods from independent artists and designers around the world.

We started Cardioid with a simple idea: that finding the right card should feel a little like finding a small piece of art. Something with personality. Something you want to pick up, turn over, and imagine someone you love receiving.

We seek out independent artists, printmakers and stationery studios whose work we genuinely love, bringing together a collection that feels considered rather than overwhelming. From traditional letterpress and linocut to risography, screen printing and contemporary illustration, each artist brings their own process, perspective and character to the collection.

Many of the artists we work with are small, independent studios producing their work in limited quantities and with a great deal of care. We love the little details that come with that — the texture of a particular paper, the marks left by a printing process, a beautifully imperfect alignment, or the feeling that there is a person behind every piece.

Based in Canberra, Australia, Cardioid is proud to bring the work of independent artists from places including Melbourne, Berlin, Brussels, London, Sheffield, Barcelona and beyond to an Australian audience. We’re particularly excited to support artists who may not otherwise have a presence here, and to introduce their work to people who appreciate good paper, thoughtful design and the pleasure of sending something through the post.

Alongside our curated collections, we also create a small number of Cardioid designs ourselves — but our heart lies in discovering and sharing the work of others.

Because we still believe in the humble greeting card. In taking a moment to choose one. In writing something by hand. In finding a stamp, addressing an envelope and putting it in the post.
