About Us
Our Story
A curated selection of greeting cards from independent artists around the world, chosen with care and made to be sent.
Cardioid Cards began in Canberra with a simple belief: that a card sent by hand carries something a digital message can't. We wanted to find the most considered, beautifully made cards from independent artists and small studios — the kind of work that deserves to be held, kept and revisited, rather than simply scrolled past.
Alongside the artists we love, we create our own Cardioid Cards — simple, three-word statements designed to say a lot with very little. Thoughtful words for the moments when you want to celebrate, encourage, thank someone, say I love you, or simply let someone know you're thinking of them.
Every card in our collection is chosen for its craft, its character and its ability to say something true. We look for artists and studios with a distinct point of view, whether that's the letterpress precision of a Belgian atelier, the playful graphic language of a London studio, the considered simplicity of a Melbourne designer or the quiet beauty of Japanese design.
We believe there's still something special about choosing a card, writing a few words and putting it in the post. It's a small gesture, but one that can mean a lot.
The Artists & Studios
We are proud to work with a growing collection of independent artists and studios from Australia and around the world. Each brings their own perspective, personality and craft to the art of the card.
LE TYPOGRAPHE
A Brussels-based studio with a deep reverence for letterpress printing. Le Typographe's cards are set in metal type and pressed by hand, resulting in beautifully tactile pieces where typography takes centre stage.
SCOUT EDITIONS
Playful, witty and beautifully printed. Scout Editions brings a sharp graphic sensibility to everyday occasions, creating cards that are as enjoyable to give as they are to receive.
ME & AMBER
Warm, illustrative and full of heart. Melbourne-based Me & Amber creates cards with a wonderfully personal quality — the kind of cards that feel like they were chosen just for you.
ZETTA FLORENCE
Melbourne-based and artist-led, Zetta Florence champions local and international makers. Their cards combine bold ideas, beautiful materials and a thoughtful approach to design.
KINSHIPPED
Cards for the relationships that matter most. Kinshipped creates tender, considered designs for the moments when you want to choose your words carefully.
JUST COOL DESIGN
Graphic, confident and a little unexpected. Barcelona-based Just Cool Design brings a contemporary design perspective to the greeting card, with work for anyone looking for something a little different.
SHORT TALK
Simple, thoughtful and quietly expressive. Melbourne-based Short Talk creates beautifully understated cards that find just the right words for everyday moments and meaningful connections.
LUIZA HOLUB
Playful, colourful and full of personality. Sheffield-based artist Luiza Holub creates charming illustrated cards with a distinctive hand-drawn quality and plenty of character.
TOGETHERY
Berlin-based Togethery creates joyful, modern cards with a strong graphic sensibility. Their risograph-printed designs are playful, tactile and made to brighten someone's day.
NANDAKA
Japanese studio Nandaka brings a quiet, considered approach to paper and design. Their cards are understated and beautifully crafted, with a distinctive sense of simplicity and balance.
How We Choose
Curation isn't a formula.
We look for work with a clear point of view — cards that make us stop, smile, think or want to send them to someone. We care about good design, beautiful materials and the people behind the work.
We favour independent artists and small studios over mass production, and quality over quantity. We'd rather have a collection of cards we genuinely love than a catalogue full of cards that simply fill a shelf.
Most importantly, we choose cards we'd want to send ourselves.
Cardioid Cards is based in Canberra, Australia, and we're always looking for new artists, makers and small studios whose work we think belongs here.
If you're an artist or studio whose work you think we'd love, we'd love to hear from you.
